Coca-Cola and Oreo teamed up for an incredibly tasty partnership.
The companies came up with two limited-edition items: Oreo Coca-Cola cookies and Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar drink.
The dessert and drink items come in unique packaging with a sleek black background, and both are available starting on September 9. They include pictures of Oreos layered in a way that makes them look like the outline of an old-fashioned glass Coca-Cola bottle. What truly stands out, though, is what’s inside each package.
Oreo Coca-Cola cookies: A fizzy twist
Two distinct cookies are combined to make Oreo Coca-Cola sandwich cookies. One cookie has a pop of soda taste from Coca-Cola syrup and looks like the traditional chocolate Oreo cookie.
The second half of the sandwich is a golden Oreo cookie decorated with bubble patterns and the “Coca-Cola” logo in a red tint. Between the black and red cookies are a traditional cream layer and popping candies, which are designed to mimic the fizziness of drinking soda.
The limited-edition soda’s details are a little less clear. As per the press release, the purpose of Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar is to blend a delectable hint of Oreo cookies with a pleasant Coca-Cola taste.
When the Coke can was opened, according to sources, the testers detected the Oreo effect right away. Even though the taste of the cola was less strong than the aroma of chocolate cookies, testers nevertheless referred to the beverage as a “chocolate cream soda.” While some reviewers were anticipating more of an Oreo punch, soda connoisseurs were pleased with the flavor’s subtlety.
Other seasonal and collaborative flavors
The mere sight of the Oreo Coca-Cola cookies captivated the testers. Similar to the drink, the cookies’ aroma outweighed their taste. Nonetheless, the chocolate cookie’s subtle cola flavor and the vanilla cream exploding candy did make for a delightfully fizzy bite.
In July, the cookie brand released a seasonally appropriate flavor: Mint Chip.
The ice cream-inspired sandwiches combine two classic chocolate cookies with a waffle cone embossment, mint chip-flavored cream and little chocolate chips. They were first available on July 8 and can still be found in retailers nationwide.
Snacking and soda enthusiasts who can’t wait until September 9 can register for a presale on Walmart’s website later in August, or visit Oreo’s website to learn more about the cookies.
This is the first official collaboration between the snack brand and Coca-Cola; although, Oreo did release a Cherry Cola flavor on a limited basis back in 2017.
In closing…
Coca-Cola and Oreo’s collaboration has resulted in two innovative, limited-edition products that blend iconic flavors in exciting new ways. The Oreo Coca-Cola cookies offer a fizzy twist on a classic favorite, while the Coca-Cola Oreo Zero Sugar drink delivers a subtle yet intriguing fusion of cookie and cola flavors.
With these products hitting shelves on September 9, snack and soda enthusiasts have much to look forward to. For those eager to get a head start, presales and further details are available through Walmart and Oreo’s websites. This partnership not only introduces fresh tastes but also highlights the growing trend of unique food collaborations in the market.
