People Are Now Using ChatGPT As A Manifestation Tool
September 17, 2024

The idea of manifestation is the conviction that you can shape your own reality by directing your thoughts and efforts toward the things you want. TikTokers appear to have discovered a fresh method to liven up the practice of the notion, which became popular on social media during the pandemic.

Users have been describing how AI has improved their traditional manifestation techniques, which include mantras, vision boards, positive affirmations, visualizations, and rewiring negative beliefs.

Empowerment Coaches and AI: A Novel Approach

Chloe DeChelle, 32, is an empowerment coach specializing in teaching manifestation. She told Business Insider that she had been looking for novel approaches to impart manifestation abilities and methods to “different kinds of minds.”

It was “BookTok,” a TikTok subreddit where users discuss books and occasionally make fanfiction based on the characters, that she claimed gave her the initial idea. Though she didn’t have the time to write one out for each client, the community encouraged her to create individualized stories based on her client’s goals.

As a result, she started using ChatGPT and now advises her clients to utilize a fill-in-the-blank prompt to facilitate brainstorming.

DeChelle advised getting as specific as possible with it.

Some have even gone so far as to think that AI is communicating with them spiritually, according to DeChelle, because they have witnessed the chatbot accurately guessing personal information about them. However, this might result from AI connecting the links and using probability based on data.

TikTokers’ Experiences with AI in Manifestation

Lisa Van Meurs, a 26-year-old TikToker residing in Barcelona, began using ChatGPT as a manifesting tool to make story prompts and vision boards.

“That was the first time I had experienced that feeling that strongly for me,” Van Meurs commented. “It was really detailed.”

Before using ChatGPT, Van Meurs claimed that her goals would fluctuate every few months and that it would take too much time for her to hand-compose the story each time.

Britta Stevenson, 29, is another TikToker who told BI that she uses ChatGPT during her daily hour-long journaling and meditation sessions.

Rewiring limiting beliefs – opinions about your life or yourself that can be preventing you from manifesting your desires – is one of the manifestation and therapy techniques for which Stevenson employs the chatbot to offer on-demand assistance.

According to Stevenson, she uses ChatGPT to examine her scribbled visions and find recurring themes and writing obstacles. She then requests that ChatGPT provide her with instances of things that disprove her worries to assist her in rewiring her thought processes. She claimed that the exercise had helped her get over her fear of producing content.

The chatbot is referred to by Stevenson and other users on TikTok as their “bestie” or “mentor.” She mentioned that one wonderful feature of ChatGPT is that you may ask it to focus on a different output or adjust its tone if you don’t like the advice it’s providing you.

Clinical Insights and Ethical Considerations

AI can be an “incredible tool to enhance manifestation practices,” according to clinical psychologist and manifestation specialist Anna Kress, and it can assist people in “breaking through psychological barriers.”

“I can see it being extremely useful for people who want to try manifestation practices but struggle with creativity or visualization,” said Kress.

However, she also mentioned that there are risks associated with the gadget. According to Kress, some people divulge private information about themselves or others without authorization. She claimed that some people have experimented with manifestation techniques, such as cloning the voice of a romantic partner and programming it to say what they want to hear.

“This type of practice has ethical implications as well as mental health ones,” stated Kress. “By over-focusing on trying to manifest a specific person, we can lose sight of our ethical boundaries and what it means to manifest healthy relationships.”

Kress advises using the instrument in addition to inner effort and personal understanding rather than as a substitute. For instance, you can make diary prompts with ChatGPT, but you should analyze your responses on your own afterwards, she advised.
